What happens if I forget to update my registration after I return to the US and I get an overseas ballot?

You should contact your Local Election Official to let them know you are now living in the US. They will let you know the procedure to vote in person or, if your state allows it, to use an in-state absentee ballot.

You can find the contact information for your Local Election Officer by going to www.votefromabroad.org/states.    After you select your state, you can scroll down to find the contact information for your Local Election Officer based on where you now live.  You probably should not submit the ballot that you received since you are no longer living abroad.   If your current US address is different from the one where you were registered, you may need to register for your new location and let your prior Local Election Officer know to remove you from their list.
